Nyaa—! Even though it’s made with Pico-8 and takes place in such a limited grid-based world, it was such a solid, engaging, and rewarding experience! It was so fun that I ended up playing through with all the characters in one go. It’s amazing how just small differences in starting stats and items can give each character such a distinct personality! It was a truly wonderful game experience, meow! ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Thanks for making this pumpkin spiced roguelike that turned out to be another great hit on the long list of my Pico-8 Adventures.
One issue I'd somehow managed to run into is that sometimes you spawn in the level completely surrounded by unbreakable barriers such as spike pits, so while this happens relatively rarely, it is a bit suboptimal (or maybe I just don't understand something).
I just timed myself on version 1.2 (current version) as quick as I could go, and got 2min 25sec from the moment I selected a character to the moment I got through the last portal to the end screen. I didn't record it so it's not "official" but will give you a benchmark. I used the middle character with the axe, btw.
Obviously it'll be VERY luck based, varying greatly based on the enemies that spawn and items you get. Good luck if you decide to try, let me know if you get a better time!
